Renovation vs. remodeling for your home
The terms “remodel” and “renovation” are often used interchangeably. The fact is, they are two entirely different entities. Able & Ready Construction explains the differences between renovation vs. remodeling for your Prescott home.
The key difference between remodeling and renovation is the extent of the changes. In a renovation, you are updating an existing structure with cosmetic changes. A remodel involves changing the structure through at least some demolition followed by construction.
For example, the renovation of a bathroom might involve refreshing the tile on the floors and walls and refreshing other areas with some paint. It may even include removing and replacing the existing sink, toilet, or shower. However, the plumbing and electrical systems would remain in their original locations. On the other hand, the same project would become a remodel if you moved the pipes to make room for a washer/dryer combo.
If your house seems a little dated, a renovation can add a new and fresh look. But if you need to update your home's functionality, a remodel is required. An example would be knocking down a wall to create more space in the kitchen, say, combining a kitchen with a dining room or putting up a wall to create one spacious area.
